Trauma & EMDR Therapy
Healing is Possible — and You Don’t Have to Do It Alone
Trauma isn’t just what happened to you — it’s also what happened inside you as a result. It lives in the body, shapes your beliefs, and impacts how you relate to yourself and others — often long after the original experience has passed.
Whether you’re dealing with the effects of a single overwhelming event, a painful relationship, or a childhood marked by emotional neglect or abuse, your symptoms are not signs of weakness. They are signs of survival.
And they can be healed.

What is Trauma?
Trauma shows up in many forms — it doesn’t always look like a car accident or combat. Some of the most invisible and lasting trauma stems from relational wounds, including:
-
Childhood emotional, physical, or sexual abuse
-
Abandonment or neglect
-
Growing up with a parent who was emotionally unavailable, angry, or unpredictable
-
Domestic violence or toxic relationships
-
Infidelity, betrayal, or divorce
-
Workplace harassment or burnout
-
Sexual assault or boundary violations
-
Being told your feelings didn’t matter
Over time, these experiences can lead to:
-
Hypervigilance or anxiety
-
Numbness or disconnection from your body
-
Shame and self-doubt
-
Difficulty trusting or feeling safe in relationships
-
Over-functioning or people-pleasing
-
Flashbacks, nightmares, or intrusive thoughts
-
Feeling stuck in the past, or like something’s “wrong” with you
EMDR Therapy: A Path to Resolution
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a powerful, evidence-based therapy used to treat trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and more.
Rather than talk through the trauma over and over, EMDR helps your brain process and release stuck memories and body-held responses — so you can finally move forward without being hijacked by the past.
It works by using bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements or tapping) while you safely revisit and reprocess painful experiences. Over time, what once felt overwhelming becomes more neutral — the emotional charge fades, and clarity returns.

EMDR Can Help You:
-
Heal from trauma without having to re-live every detail
-
Calm your nervous system and reduce triggers
-
Shift negative core beliefs (“I’m not safe,” “I’m not enough”)
-
Strengthen your sense of agency and self-trust
-
Restore a sense of peace and presence in your body
I integrate EMDR into therapy gently and only when you're ready. We always move at your pace.
